FAQs

How long does it take for my order to ship?

Lead times vary depending on the item size, complexity and even time of the year (holiday times are very busy in the studio so always shop early).
I do my best to offer an approximate timeframe on the description page. I also keep you informed in case of any unforeseen delays . If you would like an approximate ship-by date feel free to contact me
Email: hello@muddyheart.com

Can your bells be used outdoors?

To ensure your bell lasts for a long time I suggest keeping it under a roof and away from water when installed outdoors

Do you keep items in stock?

My work is mostly made to order (except for a few small items which you can find on my ready to ship section of the shop)
Because I offer you choices with color and sizes for almost every design it would be incredibly wasteful to create hundreds of pieces to have sitting on shelves. Instead I make your experience unique and special by hand-crafting each item in your order all the while preserving raw materials and resources unlike mass-produced manufacturers

What if my order is Lost or arrives damaged?

Your shipping fee includes full replacement insurance in case of loss or damage ***(please keep in mind that insurance coverage is time sensitive so don't delay in letting me know or I may not be able to offer you a replacement)
Email: hello@muddyheart.com
  • In case your package is lost: please contact me ASAP to attempt a package search and proceed to submit the claim for a replacement to be sent to you- the insurance coverage expires 31 days after shipping your item
  • In case your item/s arrived damaged:  make sure to take photos of the item/s +  the box and contact me ASAP - the insurance coverage expires 31 days after shipping your item

Are your pieces food-safe?

If it is a food/drink-intended piece then rest assured it is food safe. All other pieces are safe to use and I use natural lead-free glazes and materials however some finishes used on decorative pieces may not be available for foo wares due to their texture or delicate nature best enjoyed as a decorative object.

Do you use safe materials?

I use only natural, locally & ethically mined clays from North Carolina . To adorn my wares I use only lead-free glazes, stains and pigments for your safety & mine

Are your kitchenwares dishwasher and microwave safe?

My stoneware food pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe but to ensure longevity of your pieces, hand washing with a gentle soap is highly recommended.
* Please note that gold/silver luster embellished wares are neither dishwasher or microwave safe, for these I recommend to gently wash them by hand and avoid placing them in the microwave - the gold/silver will cause a spark!)

Do you offer custom / personalized ?

Absolutely!; Feel free to email me with any questions or requests. I am happy to make custom designs and personalized pieces  - Email: hello@muddyheart.com

Do you offer a design trade discount?

Yes I do!, email me at hello@muddyheart.com to register your design studio and receive 10% off every order

Do you offer Wholesale?

At the moment I am not taking on any wholesale orders

How is it made?

Pottery is a labor of love, patience and delicate craftsmanship .Every single piece I make goes through a long metamorphosis. First I design my pieces , then from a slab of hard, cold clay I hand-sculpt it or shape it with molds until it is how I envisioned it...The next step is the drying stage, which takes anywhere from 1-7 weeks to complete and it is one of the most important steps that can't be rushed in order to keep the shape and strength of the piece . Once dry, I sand it and afterwards it gets kiln fired first at 1800 degrees. Once bisque fired, I glaze it all by hand (**with lead-free glazes**) and the it is ready to be fired at 2200 degrees. The overall process takes about 2-8 weeks to complete, achieving beautiful and unique piece to treasure for years!.--  like with any pottery piece, handle with care and it will remain beautiful, useful and amazing for many lifetimes

What makes pottery so special?

Ceramics are a durable and intricate material, where colors melt together, and textures come alive with every step of the making process and the amazing power of heat from the kiln. Every piece results in a distinctly unique and personal object
